Reflections in a Metallic Crop Top

Welcome to Preseason

November is one of my favorite months of the year.  For me, it's all about celebrating family, friends, and everything good that is happening in our lives.  It's also a time for reflection.  Every year, I use the last two months as my very own preseason to the next.  It's become a tradition for me to reflect on the current year, identify things that I want to leave behind, and start working towards the goals that I want to tackle the next year.  I love the feeling of renewal that this personal preseason practice brings me, so today, I'm going to do it right here in this blog post!

Preseason Mantra

Cleanse your life of bad energy.  Surround yourself with positivity.  Count your blessings, and remain humble.  Treat people with respect.  Do not covet what others have.  Stay in your own lane.  Love yourself unconditionally.

What are you thankful for?

This year I am thankful for growth.  I am thankful for my amazing family and friends that push me to be my best self through their endless support.  I am grateful to work for a firm that I am extremely proud of, alongside the most brilliant and genuine minds.  I am humbled by the amazing opportunities I've received thanks to this blog, and I thank God that I am of sound mind, body, and spirit.

What are you leaving behind?

This is the hard part, because I have to get real with myself.  Every year I cleanse my life of negative energy, people, and habits.  This year I've identified self-doubt as the habit that I want to leave behind.  These past 12 months have taught me so much about casting away self doubt in the face of new opportunities.  Life is too short to short-change yourself, and nobody will see the value in you, if you don't see it in yourself.  It's that simple!

Looking Ahead

2017 was a year of major transition, so my goal for 2018 is to establish consistency.  Finding the discipline to focus on my priorities and holding myself accountable for tackling the things that I can control.  Focusing on the good things in life, and remembering that the bad is only for a time.  I plan on continuing to honor myself through self-love, and hope to meet new positive souls to add to my growing community here in D.C.

What are you thankful for?  What do you want to leave behind?  What are your goals?  Let me know in the comments below!  I hope this post inspires you to start thinking about how you can refresh your life.  Let's turn these thoughts into action!
